2nd Hand clothes, toys etc...

There is a lot of buzz about the gov't passing a law that any 2nd hand child's item needs to be tested for lead by a 3rd party BEFORE you can sell it. I'll keep this short. If you can't beat 'em - join 'em! For those of you who depend on 2nd hand items (who can afford to buy everything new especially with more than one child?!?!) then you know that this new law the gov't has passed will indeed hinder the way our kids are dressed. Lol...I can't afford new clothes at Walmart nevermind Baby Gap, Gymboree or any other designer kids store! So here's what we can do UNTIL the law is changed. You can still sell your items on ebay, craigs list and tag sales however; you'll have to list them as such: "Items are FREE, you're purchasing a box - whatever is inside of this box is free." You can list everything you're selling and of course the cost of the "box" should cover whatever is inside of it. Here's an example: "FREE: 3 Christmas dresses size 6-12mo. Bidding for the box that these items will be shipped in starts at $10.00. Please note that you are not paying for the clothes. You are paying for the box itself and for the time and effort put into packing and shipping this box."
Unfortunately this is what we'll have to do until the laws change. We can't afford to lose 2nd hand items especially in an economy like today's. Here is a link to the Quintooples blog where she lists in detail what we need to do in order to change the law. There is also a link on the page to sign the petition. At least take the time to do that for those of us that just can't afford everything BRAND NEW. http://www.quintooples.com/
